East Timor was devastated during the departure of the Indonesian military following the referendum for independence in 1999.  The country was left with only two dentists, and about 50 dental nurses (all trained in Indonesia).  Most equipment was either removed or destroyed.  In the early 2000s, AusAID funded a project to help reestablish basic dental services, develop oral health education resources, formulate a National Oral Health Plan, and provide training and capacity building for the remaining dental workforce.  Presently there is still very limited access to dental services.  In 2012, the Ministry of Health established a new school for dental therapists.  However, the school lacks teachers, and clinical facilities (they have 1 chairs for 60 students).  The NGO One-2-One signed an agreement with the Ministry of Health and appointed an experienced East Timorese dentist, Dr Fernando Jong, as its country Director.  Having set up an office in Dili, One2One is currently introducing several projects, which support the Ministry of Health National Oral Health Plan.  ICD has provided financial assistance to support the dental therapy school and to purchase a mobile dental unit.

When you bring additional fields into a conversion, Quickbase often finds inconsistencies. For example, say you're converting your Companies column into its own table. One company, Acme Corporation, has offices in New York, Dallas and Portland. So, when you add the City column to the conversion, Quickbase finds three different locations for Acme. A single value in the column you're converting can only match one value in any additional field. Quickbase needs you to clean up the extra cities before it can create your new table. To do so, you have one of two choices:

  • If you want to create three separate Acme records (Acme-New York, Acme-Dallas and Acme-Portland) click the Conform link at the top of the column.
  • If the dissimilar entries are mistakes (say Acme only has one office in New York and the other locations are data-entry errors) go back into your table and correct the inconsistencies—in this case, changing all locations to New York. Then try the conversion again.
